APTA: Research shows early physical therapy for back pain reduces cost, resources

American Physical Therapy Association News Release: A study in the scientific journal BMC Health Services Research shows that early and guideline adherent physical therapy following an initial episode of acute, nonspecific low back pain resulted in substantially lower costs and reduced use of health care resources over a 2-year period.

"Physical therapy as the starting point of care in your low back pain episode can have significant positive implications. Receiving physical therapy treatment that adheres to practice guidelines even furthers than benefit."
